Markuh Castle

Markuh Castle Castle in Ramsar, Iran

Entrance Fee Free

The castle governing the region was previously known as "Mal kooh" (meaning a place of wealth because there were stories of buried treasures near the castle) but in recent years the numerous holes at the top of the hill changed its name to "Mar kooh" (a place of snakes).

After climbing a few cemented steps you arrive at the top of the hill where the castle is built. You can see Ramsar and Sadat Shahr from atop the castle.
The thing that you should have in mind is the opening and closing hours that is from dusk until dawn. After that, visiting is prohibited for the public.
